Cranberry Christmas Jar Tradition Continues

In the month of December for the past 10 years, Cranberry High School has collected donations in Christmas-themed jars. Inspired by “Christmas Jars”, a novel written by Jason F. Wright, the purpose of these jars is to collect money to help support families in need over the holidays.

Students and staff members collaborate to collect as much money as possible over the course of a few weeks, and these funds are then divided equally amongst multiple local families who are selected by a school committee.

“The Christmas jars have become a very special tradition in Cranberry High School. They truly symbolize the spirit of giving for which our students and staff are known. The jars are especially meaningful to us this year since they were initiated by Kristin Sandock, who is on leave this year to take care of her sick daughter,” Heather Motter, the 12th grade English teacher here at Cranberry, stated.

These jars were available for donations until December 17, and even small change was able to make a difference in others’ lives.
