Harrisville man charged with strangulation

From staff reports

Franklin state police accused a Harrisville man of strangling his sister during an altercation Thursday night at a Slippery Rock Creek Road residence.

A criminal complaint filed through District Judge Matthew Kirtland’s office said police were dispatched to the home at about 7 p.m. for a domestic incident involving Patrick Lindsay Jr., 18, and his 22-year-old sister.

Lindsay became destructive when his sister would not allow him to hold her infant child and started to damage items in the home, and he then grabbed the child’s left leg in an attempt to take the infant from his sister, the complaint said.

Lindsay put both of his hands around his sister’s throat, causing her to lose her ability to breathe, but Lindsay’s father pulled him away and restrained his son until police arrived, the complaint said.

Lindsay is facing felony counts of strangulation and endangering the welfare of children, in addition to a misdemeanor count of simple assault.

He was placed in the Venango County jail on $5,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 8.
