High-speed fun at Two Mile

Warm weather and the excitement of outboard boats hitting top speeds on Justus Lake made it a great weekend to take in the Two Mile Run Regatta on Memorial Day weekend.

Attendees on Saturday set up camp on and around the beach in order to watch the approximately 100 racers who came from both inside and outside the local area to compete in the 26th annual event.

“Reservation-wise, for boat races, we’re higher than we were last year,” Two Mile Run County Park Manager Luke Kauffman said last week, and all of the park’s reservation campsites were full for the weekend.

Some of the attendees signed an insurance waiver in order to have the opportunity to get into the pit area on the beach so they could meet the racers and get a closer look at the boats.

Outboard racing will return Sept. 22 to 24 for Two Mile’s fourth annual fall regatta.

The races are hosted by the Three Rivers Outboard Racing Association.
