Man accused of assaulting care-dependent person waives

From Staff Reports

A Kennerdell man accused of assaulting a care-dependent man with cerebral palsy at an Easter Seals home in September waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Tyler Watson, 27, is charged with misdemeanor counts of neglect of a care-dependent person; strikes, shoves, kicks or attempt/threatens care-dependent person; and simple assault.

He also faces summary harassment charges.

A criminal complaint filed by Franklin state police said Watson, who was an employee of Easter Seals and charged with looking after the man, over-extended the man’s right arm and slapped him across the face 10 to 12 times “because he was screaming in the living room area” On Sept. 2.

Later that day, Watson slapped the man across the face repeatedly while in the man’s bedroom, leaving redness and a welt on the man’s face, the complaint said.

Watson confessed to the incident on Sept. 7, the complaint said.

He has been released from the Venango County jail on bail.
