Man accused of indecent assault, corruption of minors

From staff reports

A Franklin man is facing charges after being accused of inappropriate contact with two girls under 13 years of age at a residence in Emlenton.

Between September 2019 and January 2020, Dominic Stokes, 29, inappropriately touched two sisters at their house, according to a criminal complaint filed by Franklin state police.

One girl, who was 11 to 12 years of age at the time, said Stokes, a relative, put his hands up her shirt and otherwise touched her inappropriately on the outside of her clothing while he was living with them, according to the complaint.

Her sister, who was about 10 to 11 years old at the time, said Stokes would put his hand up her shirt as well as put his hand on her thigh and attempt to kiss her on the cheek, the complaint said. She said the incidents sometimes happened several times a week up until the time Stokes moved out of the house, the complaint said.

The girls’ mother said she was unaware of Stokes touching her daughters until recently and that he had lived with them for several months temporarily in 2019 and 2020 and had babysat her children, the complaint said.

Stokes has been charged with two felony counts of indecent assault person less than 13 years of age and two felony counts of corruption of minors- defendant age 18 or above.

He was arraigned Monday.

Stokes’ preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. June 1 before District Judge Patrick Lowrey.
