More defendants waive hearings in drug operation

 Twelve defendants charged in connection with a drug trafficking organization responsible for distributing cocaine and heroin in Venango County waived their preliminary hearings Wednesday in Central Court.

The defendants who waived their hearings include Marquail Sherod, Sarah Hoffman, Akeyba Boyd, Genesis Chrispen, Tuesdy Seippel, Dustin King, Donald Aguilera, Hope Marshall, Rebecca Townsend, Ashley Feely, Randal Malone and Kevin O’Brien.

Five defendants, Calvin Ludy, Antonyo Harris, Javon Albright, Jesse McLemore and Antonio Parnell, were held for court Wednesday.

Fourteen of the 43 defendants originally charged in the case waived their preliminary hearings May 4 and three more did the same May 18.

One defendant, Jessica Ludy, had her charges withdrawn by the commonwealth, but the charges could be refiled pending further investigation.

Eight defendants in the case have yet to appear in Central Court. They include Meagan Henderson, Nathan Gonzales, Virginia Loggins, Shannon Norr, Cara Patsy, Courtney Renninger, Amanda Vogus and Vanessa Willis.

Their preliminary hearings are tentatively scheduled to take place either June 1 or June 8.
