OC man accused of sexually assaulting boy, 5

An Oil City man is facing charges for sexually assaulting a five-year-old boy in Cranberry Township.

Franklin state police said in a criminal complaint that after they received a child abuse referral from Children and Youth Services, they interviewed Randy Wolverton, 56, who admitted to inappropriately touching the boy and instructing the boy to touch him inappropriately.

Wolverton also admitted to taking a nude photo of the boy from the waist down, the complaint said.

He told police all this happened over the course of a week, between Jan. 6 and Jan. 12, the complaint said.

When a forensic interview was conducted with the boy, who is now six, the boy said Wolverton told him they were playing a game and Wolverton had him pull down his pants and then touched him with his hands and with a screwdriver, the complaint said.

The boy also said he was instructed by Wolverton to touch Wolverton inappropriately and that Wolverton took a photo of him, the complaint said.

Wolverton has been charged with felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, sexual assault, photograph/film/depict on computer sex act-knowingly depicts on computer, photo, etc, corruption of minors-defendant age 18 or above, and 10 felony counts each of unlawful contact with minor-sexual offenses and indecent assault person less than 13.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.
