Jack Turner

Jack Turner, 21, of Cochranton, had been held in a West Virginia jail after he was taken into custody Aug. 14 at the Greyhound bus station in Charleston, according to Charleston police.

Turner is now behind bars at the Crawford County jail after being unable to post bail, according to online court dockets.

Turner is accused of taking a vehicle that was found to be stolen Aug. 10 from the residence of Shannon Whitman the night Whitman, 49, and her 10-year-old son, Darrin, were found dead in their home in Randolph Township, near Guys Mills, police said.

Turner is facing one felony count of theft by unlawful taking of movable property.

He is also facing several charges in connection with a robbery at a Kwik Fill in Millcreek in Erie County.

He was arraigned Wednesday in Crawford County before district judge Rita Marwood.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 11.
