Plans moving forward for Nature and Art Showcase in Franklin

From staff reports

The 7th annual Nature and Art Showcase and Sale will be held inside the Barrow-Civic Theatre lobby in downtown Franklin on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3 and 4.

The event will feature original art work depicting landscapes, natural resources and outdoor recreation found in northwest Pennsylvania.

Activities are free and will be conducted during the Franklin on Ice Festival. Each participating artist may enter one or two items of any size.

The format of this exhibit results in a wide variety of two-dimensional and three-dimensional items being included, such as watercolor and oil paintings, photography, sculptures, textile pieces, ceramics, custom wood decorative items, metal fabrications, wearable art, jewelry, wood carvings, drawings, multi-media works, glass mosaics, pressed plant material designs and more.

Artist registration packets may be picked up in person at French Creek Framing and Fine Art on Market Street in Meadville, The Gallery at New Bethlehem Town Center on Arch Street, Titusville Council on the Arts on West Spring Street, Victorian City & Art Frame on Liberty Street in Franklin and the office of Penn Soil Resource Conservation & Development Council on Conewango Avenue in Warren.

Registration instructions and forms may also be downloaded from the Council on Greenways and Trails website at www.nwpagreenways.org.

Attendees at the Nature Art Showcase receive a complimentary printed program that lists the artwork and artists, including each artist’s remarks about the particular items on display.

To be included in this printed program, artist must register no later than Jan. 18.

While entries to the event will be accepted past Jan. 18, the detailed entry description won’t be able to be published in the keepsake program.

Artist eligibility is not limited by geographical residence. There isn’t a registration fee involved, but instead a commission is retained by the event coordinators from each piece of artwork sold during the two days.
