Polk police seek answers on missing mobile home

Polk Borough police on Tuesday confirmed they are investigating the disappearance of a mobile home in the area of Waterworks and Georgetown roads.

At this time, police Chief Ed Sharp said, there are no suspects.

The owner of the 14-by-80-foot mobile home reported in December that it had disappeared from the property he was renting, Sharp said.

The owner of the mobile home and the owner of the property where the mobile home had sat said they don’t know what happened to it, Sharp said.

The owner of the mobile home was in the process of moving and was living at another location at the time, Sharp said.

The home’s owner had not been to the home for about a month, and when he returned he found that it was gone, Sharp said.

The owner of the property where the home sat said she didn’t know the trailer was gone until a relative mentioned it to her, according to Sharp.

Sharp said neighbors told him they saw people at the trailer for two or three days getting the trailer ready to be moved and moving it off the property.

Sharp said whoever moved the trailer didn’t get a permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation or local authorities and that it was “moved illegally.”

Sharp said the investigation is ongoing.
