Relay for Life this weekend at Franklin High School

The 2023 Venango County Relay For Life will be held this weekend from 4 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday at the Franklin High School track.

The opening ceremony will be Friday at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by a jazzercise demonstration class by Julie Fowler of Franklin Jazzercise.

There will be two survivor celebrations this year.

A survivors pasta dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Friday and a survivors brunch will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Pre-registration for those who did not already pre-register will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday, and both meals will be followed by a survivor lap and a caregiver lap.

The luminaria ceremony will be held at 9 p.m. Friday.

A mini-carnival will be also be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with admission by a small donation.

Other features of this year’s Relay include a sunrise lap at 5:30 a.m. Saturday followed by an all-male lap and all-female lap, fun laps like a Chicken Dance lap, several appreciation laps, raffles and food for sale by participating teams.

There will also be cakewalks throughout the event in which winners get to pick desserts.

The closing ceremony will be at 3:15 p.m. Saturday followed by the final lap at 3:30 p.m.
