Rouseville getting about $350,000 for water line work

From staff reports

Rouseville Borough will receive nearly $350,000 to replace water lines in the borough.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved a loan of $120,000 and a grant of $226,800 for the work. The funds were issued as part of the Agriculture Department’s Rural Development water and waste disposal program.

The proposed project consists of the installation of about 1,410 linear feet of new line from the corner of Mechanic and Short streets along Spring Street, Pisgah and Buchanan Street to the corner of Mitchell Avenue and Buchanan Street.

An additional 325 linear feet of line will replace the existing line along Mitchell Avenue. The existing cast iron pipe is to be abandoned and the new pipe will continue service.

The proposed project will comply with current regulations set forth by the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Bureau of Safe Drinking Water.

“I’m pleased to see the Department of Agriculture working to ensure clean and reliable water systems in Venango County,” U.S. Sen. Bob Casey said as he announced the awarding of the money.

Rouseville Borough owns and operates a water system that provides service to about 523 residents.
