From staff reports

Rocky Grove High School will be creepy and kooky at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, March 2-4, when the school’s music department presents “The Addams Family: The Musical” in the high school auditorium. Tickets are available at the door and cost $6 for students and $8 for adults.

This production will be the fifth annual show produced in conjunction with Franklin High School.

“The Addams Family” is a new musical based on the cartoon characters who have already been brought to television and the movie screen. The Broadway production starred Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth. The show was written by Marshall Brickman, co-writer of Woody Allens’ “Sleeper” and “Annie Hall.” The show is rated PG-13 for some dark subject matter.

In this original story, Gomez (Tyler Weiss) discovers that Wednesday (Shannon Birsa) is engaged to a normal young man Lucas (Gavin Empson). Gomez is sworn to keep this a secret from his wife Morticia (Kendall Straub), even when Lucas’s parents (Tyler Carson, Hayley Ripple) come all the way from Ohio to meet the family. A jealous Pugsley (Jasey Donovan) enlists the help of Grandma (Cheyenne Shields) to break up the young couple, while Fester (Ben Hoover) enlists the help of all the dead Addams ancestors to help true love triumph. Before the evening is over, Lurch (Forrest Hensley), a magic potion, a crossbow, and a surprise love interest will change life for the altogether ooky Addams Family.

Also included in the cast are ancestors Carly Kelly-Baker, Courtnee McMullen, Kate Ditzenberger, Paige Phillips, Serina Croyle, Emily Fox, Cambree Backer, Sarah Walton, Amanda Martin, Hannah Young, Jackson Donovan, Tatum Carbaugh, Madison Carson, Chloe Cherry, Kaylene Dunkle, Anabell Hawkins, Duncan Hickey, Emily Ripple, Mackenna Ross and Sierra Weckerly.

The production is headed up by Jodi Hoover as music director and Peter Greene as stage director with Kolby Martin assisting. Kristen Criado is rehearsal accompanist. Bridget Kennedy is in charge of costuming, and the orchestra will be conducted by Chris Luxbacher. Hannah Young and Kolby Martin are choreographers for the production.
