Venango Blind Association Vision Bowl planned Aug. 1

From staff reports

The annual Vision Bowl fundraiser to benefit the Venango County Association for the Blind will be held Thursday, Aug. 1, at Seneca Lanes.

Participants will have the chance during the Vision Bowl to experience what people with vision impairments go through every day.

Bowlers will use vision simulator glasses to replicate various vision impairments when they bowl the first game. The last two games will be bowled without the glasses.

A prize and trophy will be awarded to the team with the highest score. There will also be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, a lottery tree and a big screen TV raffle.

Registration will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and the cost is $25 for an individual and $100 for a team of four.

A $15 deposit for an individual or a $50 deposit for a team is due no later than July 10. Those who deposit will receive an event T-shirt.

Walk-ins are also welcome but won’t receive a T-shirt.

Pizza will be available for pre-ordering during registration or by the slice at the event.

The funds raised will go toward the Venango County Association for the Blind transportation program. The program provides a sighted guide and transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping and other appointments for the blind and visually impaired in Venango, Clarion and Forest counties.

The Blind Association is also looking for event and lane sponsors and volunteers, and anyone who can’t bowl but would like to help in any of those capacities can call the Blind Association at (814) 676-1876.
