Venango United Way helps organize Summer Career Camps

From staff reports

The United Way of Venango County has partnered with local organizations to bring Summer Career Camps to Venango County.

The goal of the United Way career camps is to educate students in grades 6 through 8 on the economic ecosystems that exist in Venango County.

Every week will feature a different career cluster including healthcare, manufacturing and small businesses.

The camps are designed to be interactive experiences with the hope that students will learn new information about local businesses and careers and also be exposed to the soft skills necessary for them to be successful in their professional lives.

It is also hoped that students will create a sense of direction for their career path as they move into the age that requires them to set up high school curriculums.

The camps are offered at no cost to the students and will include lunches and a business lunch on the last day of the camp.

Sessions will begin at PennWest Clarion’s Venango Campus in Oil City, and students will be transported to different locations for the business tours.

Registrants may participate in as few or as many camps as they would like.

Registration opens May 1 and may be done at unitedwayvc.org

All documents must be completed and submitted two weeks before each camp starts.
