Volunteer tax preparers needed

The Venango County Senior Volunteer Program, in cooperation with the AARP Tax-Aide Program, is looking for volunteers age 55 and older to help prepare taxes for low and middle income residents, with special attention to those 60 years of age and older.

Volunteers are needed for the Cranberry Place Senior Center at the Cranberry Mall and First Baptist Church in Franklin. Volunteers will prepare federal, state and local income tax returns, and property tax and rent rebate forms.

Volunteers must have completed and passed the IRS training course to become a certified volunteer tax counselor.

The training course is free for volunteers, and will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 6 through 10 at First Baptist Church in Franklin.
