Franklin drivers may want to avoid Route 8 near the intersection of 15th and Buffalo streets on Monday and Tuesday, as sewer work tied to the city’s A-108 replacement project is expected to cause major traffic delays. Mortimer’s Excavating, the contractor handling the work, will be crossing 15th Street for the project, which officials say will likely create backups similar to those in August when lane closures at 15th and Chestnut stalled traffic for nearly a mile. City leaders have pledged to give motorists better warnings this time, but with limited alternate routes, drivers should still expect heavy congestion. The work was originally scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday but has been moved up to Monday and Tuesday.
