Arkoosh warns of potential phone scam

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) has issued a warning about a phone scam targeting SNAP benefit recipients. Callers impersonating DHS threaten to cancel benefits unless recipients verify their identity by calling back and entering their EBT card number. DHS Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh emphasized that DHS will never request personal information through unsolicited calls, texts, or emails. Reported scam numbers include 888-273-6954, 844-239-5136, and 888-592-8936. Recipients are urged to lock their EBT cards when not in use and report suspicious activity to the DHS fraud tip line at 1-844-DHS-TIPS. Official DHS communications only come from 1-833-648-1964 and never ask for specific personal or benefit information.
