Cranberry awaits new restaurant

A sign has been installed for Yamato Hibachi Sushi, which is coming to the location of the former Jumbo Buffet in Cranberry.

A new sign next to Bear’s Furniture and Mattress and Valley Dairy in Cranberry Township reveals a new hibachi and sushi restaurant is on its way to the area.

The Yamato Hibachi Sushi sign, at 80 Regina Drive, has been up for several days, and a representative of the family-owned chain confirmed it is one of the same restaurants as are located in New Castle and Butler.

Butler manager Eric Li, who will manage the Cranberry location when it opens, said an opening date has not yet been set because the location, which formerly housed Jumbo Buffet, is still under renovation.

However, tentatively, “we plan to do a soft opening, probably next month, at the end of April or beginning of May,” Li said.

While the menu for the Cranberry location has not been posted yet, a look at the Butler Yamato Hibachi Sushi menu reveals an all-day menu and a lunch menu, with appetizers, sushi and sashimi, hibachi dinners, bento dinners, Japanese stir-fried noodle entrees, fried rice, soups, salads, a kids’ menu and a few desserts.

The location has been under renovation for some months now.
