Firearms safety seminar set in Marienville

The Forest County Sheriff’s office is holding a firearms safety seminar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 31.

The event will be held at the Forest County Sportsman’s Club at 40536 Route 66 in Marienville.

A day of valuable training on personal firearms use, handling, safety, storage and handgun carrying topics will be provided.

All sessions are taught by trained professionals from the sheriff’s office.This session is open to the public and the cost is $20 for anyone 18 and older and $5 if they are already a member of the club.

Beginners, advanced shooters and current gun owners are encouraged to take their own personal weapon and plenty of ammunition for use at the training session.

There will be guns and ammunition provided for those who do not own a firearm.

Children 17 and under must have a parent or legal guardian present in order to shoot on the firing range.

Lunch will be provided.

— General firearms safety

— Children and firearms safety

— Gun storage and protection

— Transporting firearms

— State laws on concealed carry and legalities

— Reporting lost and stolen guns

— The sale and transfer of firearms

— Live weapon test firing for first time shooters
