Free smoke detectors available for Oil City residents

The Oil City Fire Department is offering free smoke detectors and installation to city residents on a first-come, first-served basis as part of its Free Smoke Detector Program aimed at improving fire safety and preventing injuries and property loss. After launching the program in 2024 with just 70 grant-funded devices, the department now has thousands available and will install them at no cost in compliance with current fire codes; residents can schedule an installation by calling 814-678-3061, with a waiting list available if supplies run out.
