Pink Splash for the Cure to change venues

Franklin’s annual Pink Splash for the Cure is moving today’s event to the Franklin Knights of Columbus Hall due to a forecast of inclement weather.

“We’re working on some alternatives, and making sure we’re honoring our survivors, it’s just a little different this year,” said Pink Splash board member Roz Greggs.

Greggs said the schedule is expected to be similar, with raffle baskets, T-shirts and other things set up by 4:30 p.m. for people to arrive, and the ceremony likely to start at 5:30 pm. “We’re going to try to keep the schedule as close as possible.”

The event is normally held at Egbert Memorial Fountain in Fountain Park, and Greggs said it is the first time organizers have had to change the venue.

“We kept hoping the weather’s going to change, but it’s not, and if there’s a thunderstorm we absolutely can’t have it,” she said. “We’re about perseverance, and that’s what we’re doing this year.”
