Driver leads police on high-speed chase

From staff reports

A high-speed chase through Franklin resulted in the arrest of an Oil City man on Sunday.

Franklin police said they saw Clay Allen Geib, 44, driving a blue Dodge Durango at a high rate of speed coming in to the city.

Police said Geib was driving in the middle of 8th Street heading west, in an attempt to strike a Pennsylvania State Police cruiser traveling in the opposing lane.

Police said they tried to stop Geib but he refused to pull over and a pursuit ensued. Geib accelerated at a high rate of speed, committing multiple traffic violations and striking multiple occupied vehicles while attempting to flee.

Geib wrecked his Durango at the intersection of Allegheny Boulevard and Liberty Street. Geib left his vehicle and started running north on Liberty Street, according to police.

Police apprehended Geib in the Sheetz parking lot.
