Drought watches lifted in Venango, Clarion counties

From staff reports

Venango and Clarion counties are among the six counties whose drought watches have been lifted by the state Department of Environmental Protection.

Drought watches also have been lifted in Berks, Chester, Fayette and Lehigh counties, the DEP said. However, drought watches or warnings continue for 15 other counties.

Counties still on drought watch, the DEP said, are: Adams, Bucks, Cameron, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Lancaster, Lebanon, Montgomery, Northampton and Perry.

Clinton County will return to drought watch, as the Lock Haven City Authority and Suburban Lock Haven Water Authority are experiencing supply issues and have requested customers to reduce water usage where possible, according to the DEP.

York County will continue to be in drought warning to support efforts of water suppliers and its customers to conserve water, according to the DEP.

In addition to multiple public water suppliers implementing voluntary or mandatory water conservation, the DEP said it is seeing lingering year-to-date precipitation deficits and a handful of groundwater wells that have not fully recovered.
