A cool fall evening followed on the heels of a day of patchwork clouds as the Franklin High School homecoming parade returned to the streets Wednesday evening.

The parade followed the same route as last year, traveling from Bandstand Park to its final destination at Central Elementary.

A bonfire and pep rally at the elementary school sparked up Knights spirit before Friday night’s homecoming game against the Warren Dragons. The Franklin Black Knights Marching Band and the cheerleaders revved up excitement with their performances.

The juniors captured first place in the float judging with their “Playing Tonight…The Bald Bandits” entry.

The homecoming queen candidates — Haley Bell, Andi Coast, Sydney May, Maddi Phillips and Tyria Williams — were introduced, and “J Money” gave an inspirational speech.

The queen will be crowned at halftime of Friday’s game at the football stadium, where homecoming game attendees will be able to admire the recently-resurfaced running track around the football field.
