OC man accused of sexual contact with minor

An Oil City man is facing charges that include indecent assault for engaging in multiple sexual encounters with a minor.

Sugarcreek Borough police said in a criminal complaint they were alerted by Children Protective Services that a 15-year-old girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted by Paul I. Fox, 77, of Oil City.

The girl told police Fox had touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions and gave her money to buy drugs in order to prevent her from telling her family, the complaint said.

The girl also showed police text messages from Fox in which he made multiple inappropriate comments and said that he wished she was older so he “could be her sugar daddy,” according to the complaint.

Fox admitted to police some, but not all, of the inappropriate conduct, and he also showed police text messages on his phone, which police confiscated for evidence, the complaint said.

Fox returned unannounced twice to the Sugarcreek police station, and he claimed the second time that all the photos and information on his phone were more than four years old, the complaint said.

But police told him they only accessed items from the last few months, many of which revolved around young women, according to the complaint.

He has been charged with felony counts of corruption of minors and unlawful sexual contact with a minor and misdemeanor counts of indecent assault of someone under 16 and corruption of minors.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled May 22 in Venango County Central Court.
