Franklin man held on burglary, assault charges

From staff reports

A Franklin man accused of breaking into a residence on Otter Street and assaulting a woman was held for court on all charges Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Jeremy Todd Shawgo, 32, is charged with one felony count of burglary/overnight accommodations, person present-bodily injury crime; three misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, and single misdemeanor counts of simple assault and terroristic threats.

He also faces summary harassment and criminal mischief charges.

A criminal complaint filed by Franklin police said Shawgo entered a residence in the 1400 block of Otter Street by breaking the glass pane in the front door around 9 a.m. Jan. 16.

Witnesses who lived in the residence said Shawgo proceeded to strike a woman who had been in the living room with a closed fist repeatedly while he shouted at her, the complaint said.

Shawgo was released from the Venango County jail on $15,000 bond.
