Man injured in Sugarcreek crash

Sugarcreek Borough police have released details about a crash Thursday afternoon on Patchel Run Road near the intersection of Whitman Road.

Police said 32-year-old James Matlock of Cooperstown was traveling south on Patchel Run at about 12:30 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle while going around a right curve in the roadway.

The vehicle struck a guide rail and trees before traveling down an embankment, police said.

Matlock suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to Titusville Area Hospital by Community Ambulance Service, police said.

A dog in the vehicle did not appear injured, police said.

Speed, wet roads and insufficient tread on the tires are being listed as the cause of the accident.

Rocky Grove and Reno volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene.

Reports the newspaper received for Friday’s edition of a second person being injured in the crash were incorrect.
