Moran says his vehicle with political signs vandalized

Nick Moran, the Republican nominee for Oil City mayor, told the newspaper on Wednesday that someone had vandalized the passenger side door of his pickup truck, which contains political signs mounted on a wooden frame in the bed.

Moran said he had parked the truck along Main Street in Oil City — at the site of the former Gulf Station, after he moved it out of St. Stephen Catholic Church’s parking lot upon being asked to remove it from there — at about 2 p.m. Sunday, and that it was sometime afterward that his truck was vandalized.

Moran said he discovered the damage on Wednesday.

Oil City Police Chief Dave Ragon confirmed that his department is investigating the incident.

“It looks like something was thrown at it,” Ragon said.

Moran said his truck was “severely damaged” and that he was told the estimate to repair it is $2,500.

However, Moran said, his 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, along with the signs, will remain in the same spot and that nothing will deter him from continuing his campaign.

“It’s not right what happened,” he said. “It makes me sad someone would do something like that. I would never do something like that to anyone.”
