The Oil City Senior High School’s leadership council was invited to the Venango Clarion campus by Leadership Venango on April 3, 2023.

Among other schools, OCHS was invited to the campus to be introduced to leadership roles in our county by various guest speakers. Some of these guest speakers included Casey Beightol, the director of campus relations; Dan Flaherty from the Oil Region Library Association; Kat Thompson from the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce, and others. These guest speakers presented the students with various ways to challenge and improve their leadership skills.

They also performed a multitude of activities with the students to give them real practice at these improvements. Some of these activities included discussions about the community around them, personality tests on their leadership roles, practice envisioning their goals and how to reach them, as well as many small activities to break the students out of their comfort zone.

The students ended the day with many things to think about as they departed back to their schools. This event, like the Leadership Venango mission statement states, helps prepare students for a better future. The OCHS Leadership Council thanks Leadership Venango for the opportunity to broaden their leadership roles and skills.
