Organizers gearing up for 11th annual Oil Country Bluegrass Festival

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Venango County and Oil City Arts Council will team up to host what will be Oil City’s 11th annual Oil Country Bluegrass Festival.

This popular annual event will be held Friday through Sunday, Feb. 23-25, at the Days Inn, located at 1 Seneca St., Oil City.

All proceeds will benefit the sponsoring non-profit organizations.

As in prior years, all bluegrass bands that take part will be donating their time to benefit the sponsoring entities.  Each of the approximately 25 participating bands will play music for a 30-minute set.

Some playing slots are still available and bluegrass bands wanting to secure a playing time should email Cinnamon Evans as soon as possible.

A listing of participating bands will be published when the band list is finalized.  Friday evening performances begin at 6 p.m.; Saturday performances begin at 1 p.m.; and the Sunday morning gospel performance will start at 9 a.m.

There is no admission charge for the festival, but donations are accepted and multiple raffles are held.

It is again anticipated that the festival will draw very large crowds, organizers said.

At this time, there are a limited number of hotel rooms available and those needing lodging accommodations should make reservations early by calling the inn.
