Students at Valley Grove Elementary School held a week-long Penny War to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Beginning May 24, students in kindergarten through sixth grade raised a total of $2,765.64. Mrs. Plummer’s class raised the most money – $300, while Mrs. Cashdollar’s class led the competition in points. Students in both classes were rewarded with extra recess time. Sarah Baughman, of the Valley Grove PTO, said Mrs. Cashdollar “deserves the credit for putting the Penny Wars together for such a great cause, as well as the awesome VGE families who rallied together to raise such an outstanding donation.”  (Submitted photos)
