Police urge safety with school year starting

From staff reports

Sugarcreek Borough police are reminding motorists that school starts next week and school zones will be active with a maximum speed limit of 15 miles per hour.

Sugarcreek police will be out enforcing speeding in a school zone for the safety of children.

Police also said drivers should allow extra time for travel and leave early as buses will back on the roadways.

Motorists should watch for children around school zones and school buses, police said.

Police said that passing a school bus with its red lights flashing is a violation, and offenders could face a 60-day license suspension, five points on their driving record and a $250 fine.
