Renovation work at the Franklin Pizza Hut on Atlantic Avenue is well underway.

The building, located at 136 Atlantic Ave., closed April 1 for complete interior and exterior renovations, according to city code enforcement officer Chuck Gibbons.

Reck Construction Inc., of Oil City, will complete the $152,000 project.

Atlantic Development Corp. of Erie owns the building and told Gibbons the renovation will be similar to that of the Oil City Pizza Hut, which was remodeled last fall.

Work will include a complete remake of the dining room area, new kitchen equipment, window replacements, new restrooms, new flooring, updated lighting and repairs to the parking lot.

“The front of the building will be the focus of remodeling,” said project manager Joe Borgia of Atlantic Development.

Borgia said he is hoping to reopen the restaurant around June 1.

Franklin Pizza Hut originally opened in 1977 and was last renovated in the 1990s.
