Storm causes power outages

Tree down on Elk Street

A storm that rolled through the Venango County area late Wednesday evening left some residents in Seneca, Oil City and Franklin without power overnight.

Some of the outages continued until about 1 p.m. Thursday.

The storm even downed several trees on Elk Street in Franklin, according to the Franklin Fire Department.

Tricia Ingraham, a representative with FirstEnergy, said the region experienced mild outages during and after the storm.

“About 3,800 customers were affected in the region, and it looks like the majority of them were restored by about 7 a.m. (Thursday) morning,” she said.

Ingraham added that the outages were caused by “a lot of downed wires, a lot of downed trees.”
