Titusville student taken into custody with loaded pistol

A Titusville High School student was taken into custody Friday after he was found to be in possession of a loaded pistol along with additional ammunition.

Titusville police said they received a report Thursday evening about a student who was believed to be in possession of a stolen firearm.

Throughout the overnight hours Thursday into Friday, Titusville police and Titusville High School principals conducted searches of the high school and investigated the threat, according to police.

Police said that prior to the beginning of school Friday they were able to apprehend the suspect, who is a juvenile, off school property.

Felony charges have been filed against the student through the office of Crawford County Juvenile Probation, police said.

The investigation as to why the student was carrying the pistol will continue, according to police.

All students were kept safe and classes continued as usual Friday, police said.
