Titusville students go to Harrisburg

Fifteen Titusville High School students were among the youths who traveled to Harrisburg May 2 for the American Lung Association’s 2017 Day at the Capitol. Advocates rallied to educate legislators about raising the minimum sales age for all tobacco products to 21. Four hundred students from TRU (Tobacco Resistance Unit) were at the event. TRU is a movement throughout all of Pennsylvania to help youths between the ages of 12 and 18 stay tobacco- and nicotine-free. Students spent the morning visiting legislators and secured a sponsor for the “Tobacco 21” legislation – Sen. Mario Scavello. The legislator will be sending out a co-sponsorship memo in the coming weeks, a press release said. (Submitted photo)
