Venango Democrats offering delivery for Christmas dinner

From staff reports

The Venango County Democratic Committee has expanded its reach to provide free Christmas dinners to area residents as a result of a swell of volunteer offers.

Delivery arrangements can now be made.

The dinner will be provided free of charge between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Christmas Day at Trinity United Methodist Church on Oil City’s North Side.

It will be take-out only, and the ready-to-eat, individually packaged dinner will include baked ham, potatoes, mixed vegetables, roll and dessert. The meals are available to anyone.

The committee will accept reservations for the dinner until Thursday, and the reservations can be made online at www.venangodems.org or by contacting John Kluck, the Democratic committee chairman, at (814) 657-3108.

The addition of more volunteers means dinner patrons who are unable to travel to the church can arrange for the meals to be delivered at no charge. Meals will be delivered anywhere in Venango County, and those who would prefer delivery can make that known when they make their reservations.

“The response from volunteers has been awesome, especially from people who are offering to make deliveries,” said Kluck. “We have people offering to make cookies, help out that day and more. Plus there have been a lot of financial contributions. These volunteers are everybody – young, old, Democrats, Republicans. It’s just wonderful how many people are willing to help.”
