VisionQuest escapees suspects in car theft

From staff reports

Four males who escaped Thursday evening from the VisionQuest facility on South Penn Road outside Franklin are suspects in the theft of a vehicle belonging to a Franklin man.

Franklin state police said three juveniles from Philadelphia and Zahmir Parker, 18, also of Philadelphia, were discovered missing from VisionQuest during a head count at about 9 p.m. Thursday. Police said the juveniles are believed to be in their late teens and were possibly wearing blue shirts and blue pants.

Police said the Franklin man’s vehicle, a 2015 Jeep Patriot, was taken a short time later between 10 p.m. and midnight Thursday from a location on Pone Lane. The vehicle was parked in the man’s driveway and was unlocked with the keys in the center console, police said.

The suspects then drove from the scene and headed west on Pone Lane, police said.

The vehicle was seen about 2 a.m. Friday along Interstate 80 in Clearfield County in the possession of the individuals matching the description of the VisionQuest escapees, police said.

The two incidents are believed to be related, and an investigation is continuing, according to police.

A warrant has been obtained for Parker’s arrest on the escape charge, and the juveniles have been charged appropriately, police said.
