Deceased man found in Oil City

From staff reports

Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh told The Derrick on Saturday night that a 61-year-old Oil City man was found deceased inside a pickup truck outside of Casey’s Restaurant & Lounge on North Seneca Street in Oil City earlier this evening.

At the time she spoke with the newspaper, Rugh declined to provide information on the man’s manner of death and his identity, but both she and Oil City Police Chief Dave Ragon said “nothing criminal” was involved.

“There were people saying it was a drive-by (shooting) but it wasn’t,” Ragon said.

According to Venango County 911, the emergency call came in at 5:18 p.m. Rugh said she arrived on the scene at 6:15 p.m. and that there was “a large police presence.”

In addition to police, the Oil City Fire Department and Community Ambulance Service also responded, according to 911.
