Former Titusville teacher sentenced in assault case

From staff reports

A former Titusville Area School District physical education teacher accused of statutory sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy in 2018 and 2019 was sentenced Tuesday in Crawford County.

Rochelle Lee Cressman, 34, was sentenced before Judge Mark D. Stevens to 10 years in state prison followed by 10 years of probation for three counts of statutory sexual assault.

Cressman was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

She had entered guilty pleas to the three felony statutory sexual assault charges in a plea deal in November. She had been facing 66 charges in the case, and the other 63 counts weren’t prosecuted in exchange for the guilty pleas.

Corry state police had said the assaults on the boy occurred at multiple locations, including private residences in Oil Creek Township and Titusville.

Police said the investigation into the allegations against Cressman began after the boy’s mother had been advised by the boy of the nature of his relationship with Cressman.

Upon further investigation and interviews, police said they learned Cressman and the boy had been in an intimate relationship that began in September 2018 and ended in April 2019.

Police said the boy told them he had sexual relations with Cressman at least 10 times and that he had multiple other sexual encounters with her.

A criminal complaint filed in the case said Cressman is alleged to have threatened to harm herself and to harm or kill the boy if anyone were to find out about their relationship.

Cressman had taught at Titusville Middle School.
