Franklin man accused of fleeing, resisting arrest

A Franklin man is facing charges for kicking an officer and fleeing from police as they tried to arrest him.

Franklin police said in a criminal complaint they were looking for Bruce Miller II, 42, on Friday evening as there were warrants from Mercer County for him.

Police were flagged down by a man on Center Street who told them a man riding a bicycle tried to hide under his porch before he ran to a neighboring house, the complaint said.

When police looked around the neighboring house and detached garage, an officer saw a foot sticking out from under a blanket in the garage, the complaint said. The officer pulled the blanket off the person, who turned out to be Miller, according to the complaint.

Miller was arrested and handcuffed, but Miller kicked the officer which caused him to fall back into the garage, the complaint said.

Miller then ran across Center Street, nearly getting hit by a car, while being chased by the officer he had kicked, the complaint said.

After chasing Miller, police found he had entered a house on Pacific Street and was hiding in a back bathroom, where police caught him, still handcuffed, according to the complaint.

Miller was charged with felony counts of criminal trespass- enter structure and flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment as well as a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.

He was placed in the Venango County jail with bail denied due to him being a transient and a flight risk.
