Free back-to-school haircuts will be offered

From staff reports

The United Way of Venango County, hair stylists and PA 2-1-1 will hold the Second Annual Back to School Hair Affair, which offers free basic haircuts to Venango County children, ages 4 to 18, who will be going back to school.

Hair Affair will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at the Cranberry Mall, according to a United Way news release.

Oil City Vineyard Church and the Salvation Army will join the United Way to bring participants hair and school supplies.

Appointments will be made in 20 minute intervals.

Parents who would like to schedule their child’s appointment must contact PA 2-1-1 by dialing 2-1-1 or texting 898-211. Appointments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis. Social distancing practices will be in place and face masks are required.

Last year, Hair Affair provided 170 free basic haircuts.
