Groups Sought to Participate in Franklin’s Memorial Day Parade

The Franklin Memorial Day Parade is planned for May 29, and the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard, which is in charge of the event this year, is seeking groups to participate.

Invitations have been sent to businesses and organizations that have participated in the past.

Groups that would like to be a part of the parade or feature a float must respond to the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard invitation by Friday, May 5.

Businesses and organizations that wish to participate in the parade but did not receive an invitation form may contact John Flick at johnpatty77@yahoo.com or (814) 493-5147.

Lineup will start at 9 a.m., and the parade will commence at 10 a.m.

A Memorial Service for U.S. Navy veterans will be held at 9 a.m. on the 13th Street Bridge. This will be followed by a service in the Franklin Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.

The Community Service will be at Franklin’s bandstand in South Park at 11 a.m.

The names of veterans who have passed over the last year will be read aloud at this service.
