OC Main Street Program joins ‘No Place Like Local’ campaign

The Oil City Main Street Program and Pennsylvania Downtown Center have joined forces to encourage people to support small businesses with the launch of February’s “No Place Like Local” campaign.

Shoppers will have a chance to win a $50 or $100 gift card to a downtown Oil City business for participating.

In keeping with a Valentine’s Day theme, shoppers must purchase a red or pink item from a business in downtown Oil City in the month of February and share their purchase on Facebook.

Posts must include the tags @padowntown and @olilcitymainstreet, as well as the hashtags #NoPlaceLikeLocal and #OilCitysGotHeart to qualify.

There will be three winners in Pennsylvania and each will receive a $100 gift card to a downtown business of the winner’s choice. In addition, the Oil City Main Street Program will select one local winner for a $50 prize.

The campaign has been spearheaded by Pennsylvania Downtown Center for its Main Street and Elm Street member communities, of which Oil City is one.

“Pennsylvania Downtown Center has given folks a great new reason to go downtown and shop locally-owned small businesses,” said Oil City Main Street Manager Kathy Bailey. “And with Valentine’s Day approaching, there’s no better time for people to show their love and support for our community.”
