Victim of fatal crash in Rockland identified

From staff reports

Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh on Wednesday identified the victim of Tuesday’s fatal crash between a FedEx truck and lawn tractor in Rockland Township.

Rugh said Jerome “Jerry” Lynch, 72, of Kennerdell, who was driving the lawn tractor on Tuesday afternoon, died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries from the crash.

Franklin state police said the FedEx truck was traveling south on Rockland-Cranberry Road and struck the lawn tractor, which also was traveling south on the road, at about 2 p.m.

Police said Lynch was thrown from the lawn tractor upon impact.

The driver of the delivery vehicle, a 57-year-old Oil City man whom police did not identify, was transported by Community Ambulance Service to an unspecified hospital for treatment of minor injures, according to police.

Rockland-Cranberry Road was closed from Route 322 to Kennerdell Road for more than five hours after the crash, police said.
