3 charged for stealing guns from Sugarcreek home

Three Sugarcreek residents are facing a collective 114 felony charges for stealing guns from a home on Causeway Drive in March.

Sugarcreek police said Judith Ann Garich, 59, was hired to clean the home so the owner could put it up for sale. Garich then hired husband and wife Richard Perrine III and Jessica Lynn Perrine, both 35, to help her, police said.

On Monday, the homeowner reported four of the guns missing after Garich returned another four she had in her possession, police said. When asked by police, Garich claimed she and her husband removed the four guns and various tools and swords for safe-keeping because the door to the house did not lock, police said.

Police said that when they made contact with the Perrines, they both claimed Garich had all eight guns but that she had offered some to the couple when they were done cleaning.

Richard Perrine also told police he took a blue suit and an Army uniform from the residence, which he said, “Judy said I could have,” police said.

In a later interview, Richard Perrine then admitted to police that all three parties took the guns from the home, police said.

Richard Perrine then asked police if they would tell his wife he “just gave it up so she doesn’t dig herself in deeper,” police said.

Police said four guns were found in the Perrines’ garage.

Garich was charged with 13 felony counts each of receiving stolen property and conspiracy-receiving stolen property, eight felony counts each of theft by unlawful taking-movable property and conspiracy-theft by unlawful taking-movable property, and 13 misdemeanor counts each of theft by unlawful taking-movable property and conspiracy-theft by taking-movable property.

A warrant has been issued for her arrest, according to Sugarcreek police.

Richard Perrine and Jessica Perrine were both charged with 10 felony counts of receiving stolen property and conspiracy-receiving stolen property, eight felony counts of theft by unlawful taking-movable property and conspiracy-theft by unlawful taking-movable property and two misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking-movable property and conspiracy-theft by unlawful taking-movable property.

They were both arraigned Wednesday and placed in the Venango County jail on $25,000 bail.

Preliminary hearings for the Perrines have been scheduled April 15 in Central Court.
