3 Ridgway state troopers injured in altercation

Three Ridgway state police officers sustained injuries in an altercation in Fox Township, Elk County, Friday night.

Ridgway state police responded to a report of a single vehicle crash at approximately 9:40 p.m. Friday on Toby Road in Fox Township.

Upon arrival police found five individuals, all exhibiting signs of intoxication.

According to Ridgway state police, four of the occupants became uncooperative and violent.

A struggle ensued after David Anthony Sarantoulias, 20, of Kersey, assaulted one of the investigating officers. Four of the individuals then joined Sarantoulias in the assault, resisting arrest and trying to escape.

Three troopers were injured with two of them receiving treatment for their injuries at Penn Highlands Elk.

Four of the five occupants were charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and underage consumption of alcohol.

Sarantoulias and another adult, Treavus Mitchell Seawright, 18, of Kersey were arraigned in District Court 59-3-03 and lodged in Elk County prison in lieu of $50,000 cash bond. Two underage males, 14 and 16, also faces charges in Elk County’s juvenile court.
