Franklin Civil Air Patrol honors mom, son

Lacy Perry was surprised with a promotion to second lieutenant at Monday's meeting of the Franklin-based Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron 501 at Venango Regional Airport. Perry's husband, Ryan, and son, River, placed her bars on her shoulder during the oath. The Franklin Civil Air Patrol squadron has about 25 members and meets at 6:30 p.m. Mondays at the airport. Commander Jason Beers wishes there was more involvement locally. "We're the best kept secret around," Beers said. (By Richard Sayer)
