No one injured in Franklin fire

From staff reports

No one was injured in a house fire late Monday afternoon in the 300 block of Elk Street in Franklin.

A passerby noticed the blaze around 5:15 p.m., and the Franklin Fire Department responded immediately with one engine and a tower with 12 firefighters who remained on the scene for about two hours.

Franklin police and the Oil City Fire Department assisted at the scene, while Rocky Grove and Sandycreek Township volunteer fire companies were on standby at their stations.

The fire was contained to one room, which sustained moderate damage estimated at about $15,000, the fire department said.

The home was owned by Jeffrey and Elenitha Brenan, and occupied by Susan Coxson and Steven Baker, but nobody was home at the time of the blaze.

Coxson and Baker were able to stay with family for the evening, according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the fire department said.
